Gunmetal
Gunmetal is a Copper-Tin-Zinc alloy. Gunmetal alloys approximately contain Tin 2-11% and Zinc 1-10%. Modified alloys of Gunmetal, Leaded gunmetal and Nickel gunmetal, contains Lead up to 7% and Nickel up to 6% respectively. Gunmetal alloys are frequently used for bearings with moderate speed and load and specially where pressure tight castings required for valves, pipe fittings and pumps.

| CuSn7Zn4Pb7-C RG 7 | Sn 6,0 - 8,0 Zn 2,0 - 5,0 Pb 5,0 - 8,0 Cu 81,0 -85,0 | The most used gunmetal alloy for plain bearings(Bushings). At medium hardness it still has good resistance to irregular running conditions and sufficient wear resistance. Also suitable for use with unhardened shafts and light edge pressures. Short-chipping, easily machinable, good corrosion and seewater resistance. Main areas of application are plain bearings and bearing bushings for general mechanical engineering. |

| CuSn12Ni2-C | Sn 11,0 - 13,0 Ni 1,5 - 2,5 Cu 84,5 - 87,5 | Tough, hard material with very high wear resistance, also suitable for high sliding speeds and surface pressures. Good corrosion resistance, seawater resistant, resistant to cavitation stress, moderately machinable. High-speed worm and helical gear rims. |
